Ben Weerekoon
Test & Evaluation Engineer

Ben serves as Test & Evaluation Engineer at Mil-Spec Magnetics, bringing over 50 years of industry experience in electronics, electrical systems, manufacturing, and engineering support. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree and has held roles throughout his career including Radio Receiver Production and R&D Engineer and Engineering Manager.

Ben specializes in electronics and electrical projects, maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, and magnetics-related applications. At Mil-Spec Magnetics, he reviews customer drawings, develops testing procedures, trains test technicians and production engineers, maintains and calibrates testing equipment, and supports production through the construction and maintenance of specialized test fixtures.

One accomplishment he is particularly proud of is the procurement and commissioning of the company’s 150kV Corona Discharge Tester, where he personally sourced components, prepared cabling and connectors, and successfully completed setup and commissioning approval.

Ben contributes to quality and excellence through detailed test procedure development, careful analysis of test data, and continuous support of manufacturing processes to achieve consistent results. He believes Mil-Spec Magnetics stands apart through its commitment to workmanship, product quality, responsiveness to customer needs, and innovative problem-solving.

His professional values are rooted in integrity, quality, teamwork, and excellence in workmanship. He is motivated by solving problems, training others, and sharing the knowledge and experience he has accumulated throughout his career.

Outside of work, Ben enjoys music, audio engineering, boating, gardening, flying RC model planes, and a wide range of sports including tennis, pickleball, badminton, swimming, basketball, and chess. He also enjoys repairing electronics, maintaining vehicles and boats, and spending time with his grandchildren.
