Ravi Gunewardena serves as Vice President of Operations at Mil-Spec Magnetics, bringing over 22 years of hands-on manufacturing experience across all areas of the company. As the grandson and son of of co-founders Shelly & Tony Gunewardena, Ravi began his career at Mil-Spec early, working directly under his grandfather to learn the business from the ground up.

Rather than following a traditional academic path, Ravi decided to abandon his college career and fully immerse himself in manufacturing, gaining experience in every operation within the company. His training includes small wire hand winding, perfect layer winding, large copper foil winding, soldering, encapsulation, varnishing, laser marking, X-ray inspection, and dimensional verification. This comprehensive experience allows him to develop training programs and ensure consistent standards across all departments.

In his current role, Ravi oversees operations, hiring, and employee development, ensuring that team members are trained to meet the company’s quality and production goals. He has also played a key role in designing the layout of Mil-Spec Magnetics’ new facility to optimize workflow efficiency by minimizing the movement of materials, products, and personnel throughout the space.

Ravi is driven by a strong commitment to quality and takes pride in workmanship, approaching his work with a mindset of excellence and accountability. He believes Mil-Spec Magnetics is distinguished by its collective commitment to quality at every level of the organization.

Outside of work, Ravi enjoys spending time with his wife and young son, as well as working on and enjoying classic cars and motorcycles.
